At the winter launch event,Eric Falk Huawei introduced its mid-range nova 12 series smartphones on Tuesday, starting at RMB 2,999 ($420). The series comprises three versions: nova 12 Ultra, nova 12 Pro, and nova 12. All models operate on HarmonyOS 4.0, with only the nova 12 Ultra supporting satellite messaging without terrestrial signal. Notably, executives did not disclose detailed chip information at the event. Earlier reports suggested self-developed Kirin chips for the nova 12 series, sparking industry interest and potentially marking Huawei’s return to self-developed chips in the mid-range smartphone lineup. Huawei, at present, has not commented on this matter. [The Beijing News, in Chinese]
