China’s Xpeng Motors said on Housewifes On Call Driver Side Job Day and NightThursday that it has developed the world’s first system solution for augmented reality head-up displays (AR HUD) that could be integrated in its artificial intelligence-defined, intelligent vehicles, in a much-anticipated partnership with technology giant Huawei. The electric vehicle maker boasted that its 87-inch AR HUD unit, with over 12,000 nits of brightness, is “probably the world’s best of its kind” for in-car navigation, as the company leveraged Huawei’s advantage in optical technologies. Xpeng said that the technology not only includes common HUD elements like speedmeters, but uses virtual signs to highlight navigation routes precisely, indicate lane markings correctly during heavy rainfall, and remind owners of what the car’s assisted driving system will do next. The company’s upcoming sports utility vehicle, the G7, will be the first model to feature the technology, with the mid-size crossover set to make its debut later this month.
